March 23 Update on Unit Operations

March 23, 2021

Members –

At the beginning of March, I announced my intention to return the George H. W. Bush Composite Squadron to in-person meetings consistent with Civil Air Patrol national remobilization guidance, and the Governor’s Executive Order and DSHS Guidance for Opening the State Texas.  Based on the DSHS health recommendations for youth clubs revised March 10, we can now resume regular meeting activities while applying practical public health precautions and remaining compliant with State and CAP guidance, as outlined below.

  • All regular meeting activities may be conducted, indoors or outdoors.  Members must continue to wear a face covering when 6-foot social distancing cannot be maintained with other members, exercise hand hygiene, cough etiquette, cleanliness, and sanitation.

In order to accommodate meeting activities within our existing space at Astin, I am making the following temporary adjustments to our operating schedule:

  • First Tuesday: Promotions and awards will be held outdoors at 1900

  • All weeks: Cadet activities will take place in the large conference room or outdoors; Senior activities will take place in the small conference room or pilot lounge (as needs dictate), and emergency services training will be tentative based on training requirements

Over the next several days, there will be significant revisions to the unit calendar to reflect our return to normal in-person meetings.  Please check back to the unit calendar at https://tx041.cap.gov by Sunday, March 28 for up-to-date information.  Our ZoomGov meeting room will be retained for use during any hybrid meeting activities to accommodate remote members, or in the event that we revert to an earlier phase of the CAP remobilization plan.

Thank you to everyone for your continued patience and flexibility over this past year.  Your dedication to Civil Air Patrol has my heartfelt appreciation and sincere thanks, and I am looking forward to returning our squadron back to business as usual with each and every one of you.  Please contact me should you have any questions or concerns.  See you in the coming weeks.

Lt Col Nicholas McLarty, CAP
Commander
